My 21st Birthday Celebrations!

Hey Dolls,

Firstly, how are we almost at the end of the February? 2019 is going to fly by I can tell!

So this week I thought I’d give you all an update on what I got up to for my 21st last month. Anyone who knows me knows I don’t do things by halves, and after an amazing trip in Iceland I couldn’t wait for the rest of my birthday celebrations.

On my actual birthday I went to work and my fab work pals had decorated my desk! After work i went for a lovely meal with my parents at Middleton’s, one of my faves which was really nice.

Then as my birthday was on a Wednesday it was Acapella social night, our social sec decided on Hairspray as our theme (my absolute favourite) and of course I couldn’t resist being Tracy!

The weekend meant it was time for my party which I was super excited for! My best friend from Essex came up to Leicester (bday would not have been the same without her!) and after Friday night spray tans, we spent the whole of Saturday getting ready.

Hair and Makeup artist Bex had the task of getting 6 of us ready for the night, and the day was filled with champagne, yummy food (thanks mum), selfies and gossiping! I had my party at Revolution Leicester and I can’t thank the team there enough for making everything run smoothly from booking through to the actual night!

The final part of my birthday celebrations was a trip to London with my lovely family, after a glam sesh at Blow Ltd, Covent Garden we headed to the Royal Albert Hall for Cirque du Soleil: Totem! The show was amazing and the perfect end to all my celebrations!

I had the most amazing 21st birthday month and can’t thank my family and friends enough for making it so great!

Travel with me: 21st birthday trip to Iceland

Hey Dolls,

To kick start my 21st birthday celebrations I headed to Iceland with my parents! The weekend was amazing and I highly recommend, so here’s what we got up to!

We landed around lunchtime and decided to go exploring the city centre after adding a few extra layers! We enjoyed a wander about and stopped off at a lovely little coffee shop to warm up!

On Saturday, we had an early start and got picked up from our hotel at 8.30am! It was all worth it though as we headed out on the Golden Circle tour. Our first stop was Thingvellir National Park, a place rich with Icelandic history. Despite the bitter wind the view was beautiful and we also enjoyed out tour guide Wally’s tails.

Next stop was the Geyser, a geothermal spouting spring. This was great to watch as it is a natural phenomenon. We also stopped here for lunch, the food was nice but be prepared because it is expensive!

Our final stop was the beautiful  Gullfoss Waterfall, a natural waterfall with amazing views! We didn’t spend as much time looking at the waterfall as it started snowing really heavily so after taking some lovely picture, headed to the cafe for one of the best hot chocolates I have ever had!

Sunday was a day to relax, how could I visit Iceland and not go to the Blue Lagoon! The Blue Lagoon was one of the oddest but most amazing experiences. It is not often you are in a swimming costume in a natural hot lagoon whilst it is snowing! We also took advantage of the face mask bar and I have to say my skin felt incredible afterwards!

After a very relaxing day it was time for dinner. Recommended to us by our lovely concierge Greta, we went to Apotex and OMG it was the best meal I have ever eaten! We indulged in the 7 course tasting menu full of Icelandic cuisine with a modern twist. Highly recommend this one!

My Top Picks:

-Golden Circle tour, an easy way to explore Iceland

-Blue Lagoon, a must if you visit this beautiful country

-Apotex, delicious modern Icelandic food- best meal ever!

-Balthasar, yummy rustic food

-Grand Hotel, lovely hotel with friendly staff

Iceland is definitely in my top 5 countries I have visited and I would recommend it to anyone!

I will be filling you in on the rest of my 21st celebrations in my next post!

Staying in an Irish Castle!

Hey dolls,

This week is all about an amazing mini break in Ireland staying in a castle.

It was my Dads 50th birthday and we wanted to do something special and different so decided to surprise him with a weekend away in a castle in Ireland.

We flew to Knock as the airport in Donegal (where the castle is) is tiny and has a limited number of flights. It was about an hour and a half drive to the castle and we hired a car.

The hotel we stayed in was Solis Lough Eske Castle and OMG it was stunning! The hotel is set in acres of beautiful scenery and we were lucky with the weather so could explore it all!

We stayed in the courtyard rooms which were huge! There was loads of space and both the room and bathroom oozed luxury.

The hotel has a gallery bar which serves amazing cocktails and mocktails as well as serving lunch and a more casual dinner. We ate here on the first night and the food was lovely.

The main restaurant is Cedars Grill and the both the food and service were outstanding. We ate here on the night of my Dad’s birthday and the staff did everything they could to ensure it was a special night. The food was delicious and if you stay I would definitely recommend the Tomhawk Steak which is to share for 2 but we had plenty and shared between 3! A special thanks to Johnny and Nicola for great service and making the meal even more special.

Also on my Dad’s birthday we had afternoon tea, usually served in the Lobby Lounge but as the weather was so lovely we asked if it could be served outside. The staff were more than accommodating and made sure this was possible. The maitre de was fanatatsic (we didn’t get his name) and catered to our every need. The afternoon was delicious and I’m sure it was made even better by the sunshine!

Lough Eske also has a spa which is included in your room price (treatments are extra) which was lovely and relaxing with facilities including a hydrotherapy pool, steam room and sauna.

Also the staff are fantastic and so welcoming and friendly. A special thanks to Geraldine for arranging our late checkout amongst other things.

If you are looking for a unique and luxious hotel for a special occasion I would highly recommend the castle it was beautiful and we would definitely return!
