Life update: new decade!

Hey Dolls,

I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and New Year, I certainly did! So, as I haven’t posted for quite a while I thought I’d give you a little life update and tell you what I’ve been up to.

After my last post I had some family things happen that meant I wasn’t in the right headspace to write and I didn’t want to force it as I like what I post on here to be authentic and real. 2019 was definitely a mixed bag of a year with some amazing memories as well as some hard times, but let’s stick to updating you on the good stuff!

Right… let’s get stuck in!

March: I went for a lovely afternoon tea at the Berkley Hotel with my best friend for her (very) belated 21st birthday pressie. It was so yummy, I mean combining fashion and cake is always a win in my book!

April: I love doing charity events, so when the spottydog girls suggested the LOROS 10K walk I was in! These events are always so much fun and I love an excuse to dress up!

May: Saw another amazing Acapella showcase, all the hard work paid off! I love this lot crazy amounts! As well as the Society Awards which are always fun!

June:  Marked the end of my incredible placement year with the lovely spottydog communications team! Fair to say I enjoyed my send off!

July & August: Holiday central for me with trips to Barcelona, Tenerife and Mar Menor!

September: Time to adjust back to being a student! I moved into my student studio and got back to lectures to finish my degree.

October: Halloween and lots of socials getting to know the Acapella newbies…

November: Ok fan girl moment…MCFLY ARE BACK!! I was very excited to see them reunited at the O2. I also took my lovely little cousin to her first concert which of course was Little Mix!

December: A lovely Christmas with my family, trip to Amsterdam and celebrating the New Year in Fuerteventura.

So that’s a round up of my 2019! I’m really excited for what 2020 has in store and am really happy to be blogging again!

Travel with me: 21st birthday trip to Iceland

Hey Dolls,

To kick start my 21st birthday celebrations I headed to Iceland with my parents! The weekend was amazing and I highly recommend, so here’s what we got up to!

We landed around lunchtime and decided to go exploring the city centre after adding a few extra layers! We enjoyed a wander about and stopped off at a lovely little coffee shop to warm up!

On Saturday, we had an early start and got picked up from our hotel at 8.30am! It was all worth it though as we headed out on the Golden Circle tour. Our first stop was Thingvellir National Park, a place rich with Icelandic history. Despite the bitter wind the view was beautiful and we also enjoyed out tour guide Wally’s tails.

Next stop was the Geyser, a geothermal spouting spring. This was great to watch as it is a natural phenomenon. We also stopped here for lunch, the food was nice but be prepared because it is expensive!

Our final stop was the beautiful  Gullfoss Waterfall, a natural waterfall with amazing views! We didn’t spend as much time looking at the waterfall as it started snowing really heavily so after taking some lovely picture, headed to the cafe for one of the best hot chocolates I have ever had!

Sunday was a day to relax, how could I visit Iceland and not go to the Blue Lagoon! The Blue Lagoon was one of the oddest but most amazing experiences. It is not often you are in a swimming costume in a natural hot lagoon whilst it is snowing! We also took advantage of the face mask bar and I have to say my skin felt incredible afterwards!

After a very relaxing day it was time for dinner. Recommended to us by our lovely concierge Greta, we went to Apotex and OMG it was the best meal I have ever eaten! We indulged in the 7 course tasting menu full of Icelandic cuisine with a modern twist. Highly recommend this one!

My Top Picks:

-Golden Circle tour, an easy way to explore Iceland

-Blue Lagoon, a must if you visit this beautiful country

-Apotex, delicious modern Icelandic food- best meal ever!

-Balthasar, yummy rustic food

-Grand Hotel, lovely hotel with friendly staff

Iceland is definitely in my top 5 countries I have visited and I would recommend it to anyone!

I will be filling you in on the rest of my 21st celebrations in my next post!

Travel with me:Ibiza!

Hey Dolls,

After a long absence from my blog, I’m back! There have been lots of reasons I haven’t had time to blog properly but now I’m ready to get going again!

I thought for my first blog back I’d fill you all in on my holiday with my bestie to Ibiza!

We went to Ibiza for a week, it was Soph’s first girls holiday and we were both really looking forward to it.

We booked our holiday through jet2.com and were really happy with our hotel (despite the food being very repetitive and not the best). It was a cute room, kind of like a mini villa with a nice garden area.

Our week was really nice and relaxing but we did enjoy a night out with a bunch of German’s from our hotel which meant a classic Soph and Sabs dance floor takeover!

We also decided to splash out and hit Nikki Beach for their Amazing Sunday’s, and it was a delicious brunch buffet with unlimited champagne plus a saxophonist and violist! Highly recommend and was definitely worth the money!

We have already started planning out next holiday and had an amazing time!

Summer Sight Seeing in the City!

Hey Dolls,

So a couple of weeks ago my bestie from Wales came to visit for a week and I took her into London for a day of sightseeing, here’s what we got up to!

pre london

We started on by visiting Madame Tussauds, were we took a tonne of selfies with celebs!

Madame Tussauds

Then we hopped on a tube to Bucking Palace to meet the Queen (as if! but she was in), as it was a super hot day we then decided to walk to South Bank.

Along the way we saw Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey!

Next up it was time for a fuel stop, we went to the Riverfront and shared nachos and meatballs (they were so yummy) as well as a bottle of Rose!

Then it was time for the London Eye, one of the best ways to see a lot of London (we pre-booked tickets and got a combo to include our Madame Tussauds ticket)

As it was so hot we grabbed a slushy and watch a street performer before heading to Covent Garden for dinner.

After a yummy dinner in Browns, we went to my family’s favourite wine bar in St Martin’s Courtyard, Dalla Terra for Bellini’s!

We had a super busy day, but it was so much fun!

My 1st Year at Uni: Academic life!

Hey dolls,

This week is all about what academic life is like at university and I can honestly tell you it’s so different to A Levels and sixth form.

The first main different is the way you are taught, instead of small class rooms you will have lectures in huge rooms of up to around 200 students. This can be quite intimidating at first but just remember everyone is in the same position as you and you will soon get used to it. To supplement your studies you will also most likely have tutorials or seminars, these are in small groups of up to 20 in class rooms where you ask questions and do group activities.

Assessments are different too! Just like sixth form they will probably be a mix of exams and coursework. In your assignments you will get less support that previously which can be worrying but there are plenty of people around to help for example the library. In your assignments you will also be required to reference, this is a pain but you soon get used to it!

At DMU, we are also given a range of global opportunities through #DMUGlobal. This year I went to New York with my course and did some work with fashion brands as well as exploring an amazing city.

You also make great friends through your course, mine being Carolyn and Jordan who I went to NYC with. These two have been fab and have always been there when I’ve had a silly little question or needed some motivation! We all motivate each other and I don’t think this year would have been the same without them!
